Writing An Effective And Powerful Investment Club Mission Statement

Your investment club mission statement is a key part of your club. A mission statement defines and clearly states the goals that the company is setting out to achieve and the means that they are using to obtain them. Creating a mission statement is a cause of worry with many entrepreneurs, some of whom simply put of this vital task, others struggling to create a concise statement.

A mission statement should be short, consisting of no more than a paragraph. Most mission statements are no more than a couple of sentences long, so they are easy to remember. A mission statement for an investment club has the same requirements, short and powerful. This is not just a fantasy list, or a wish list, this summarizes your company’s values and policies into a few packed sentences.

This sounds like quite a tall order actually. There is a mountain load of advice concerning writing such a statement. Sadly, most of this information is rather useless. Your statement should be what works for you. Creating this is an activity that you will most likely want to hold with your entire club. After preliminaries have been drawn up, brainstorming to come up with a clear paragraph will not take too much time with a room filled with 5-10 people. You, or the president, should state in whatever manner you wish what all you want to get out of your investment club. You can even have each of the members speak as to what they expect from the club, and how they feel their goals can be achieved.

Summarize that, and presto, you have a mission statement for an investment club. Most companies put it on a plaque of some sort and display it prominently. This is not only for customers to be able to view, but, more importantly in the case of a club, it is displayed to serve as a constant reminder of the goals and mission of the club. Probably the shortest and simplest statement was created by Walt Disney. Simply put it is ‘To Make People Happy’.

Now, your club does not have to have something that short. Here is a sample that would work in the case of an investment club. ‘We at Donovan’s Investment Club strive to provide each other with the resources and information required in order to help each other successfully make a profit off investing.’ That is more or less all you will need, although you may want to add more to so that it is more accurate or creative.

Try to keep it so that it can still be relevant and useful ten years down the line. Note that this is different than actually drawing up your legal policies and rules. Your formal policy, legal statements and anything of that sort should also be listed and available to all members, but your mission statement is something that can fit on a small plaque and be displayed proudly. Keep it short, keep it simple, and you will have the perfect mission statement in no time.
